Beyond the Code
When I'm not building secure infrastructure and automating workflows, I enjoy exploring diverse interests that fuel creativity and balance.
Automotive Enthusiast
Everything from regular maintenance, performance upgrades, or just appreciating the beauty of a well-engineered machine. I'm currently working on a 1991 NA Miata MX5 NA 1.6L and a 1971 Chevy Chevelle Malibu 350. I'm currently updating the interior of the miata and adding a better sound system, updating the window switches and motor, updated the cat-back exhaust, and increased sound-proofing in key areas to maximize sound quality. The long term goal is to either super charge or turbo charge the miata. It may require an engine swap before I can make those upgrades resilient. As for the Chevelle, she has an issue with her charging system that I am currently troubleshooting. I can't wait to take them both out this summer.

Smart Home Automation
Building and optimizing home automation systems. I am completing a Magic Mirror that links to my home Hub and can interface with my calendar and AI assistant. I built out my home network using VLAN segmentation with one for work, one for IoT devices, and one for guests. I also setup NAS so I don't have to rely on commercial cloud services as much. I took an "Enterprise-Light" approach, so I also built an AWX control node from which I manage all the VMs I have hosted in my home lab. I'm using an old poweredge R730 as my VMware host. I also play with raspberry pi's quite a bit. Currently, I'm working on a home security system that can interface with a wide variety of cameras using RTSP and ONVIF formats. The idea is to give local control (data privacy) to users while retaining the convenience of tools like ring.
Fitness & Wellness
I wrestled in high school and college, and I caught the combat sports bug. I now have trained in Jiu jitsu, kickboxing, and general mma. I don't compete too often, but I try to stay sharp with my training.
